The dye project is progressing and some colors- like Marigolds are rich beyond belief. I've had a great time meeting gardeners throughout my neighborhood and their generosity (and knowledge) is something I am thankful for. I've learned quite a bit about the plants we are growing in our yards. Some plants I've been watching - like bee balm have been harvested and did not create the rich, ruby red I was hoping for. The dyes are finicky- the chemical reactions, the acidity of water, the amount of fresh materials, the plants themselves? And the art? The juries still out although I've mastered the palette of brown. It's still an experiment- but one must persevere, collect more and try again:)!
